Tired of the Negative
Posted August 7, 2008
I have had enough!
I am so damn tired of all the bad news and negative attitudes! It seems like no matter where I turn this is all I hear anymore.
- “The economy sucks!”
- “We can’t drill our way out!”
- “No one is buying a home!”
- “Our country is not what it once was!”
I am gonna pick on this last one for a second…
We all know that our economy is stagnant and that gas prices are up and everyone is feeling a pinch. I am feeling it too !But this one just takes the cake.
“Our country is not what it once was, and I don’t want my kids to grow up in that.” This was a quote from someone that seemingly hates America. This is a quote from someone that somehow doesn’t have a freaking clue… who said this? None other than the “chosen one” himself.. Mr. Barack Obama.
Here is my issue with this statement… I agree.. our country is not what it once was. But where Mr. Obama gets off stating that we are worse is beyond me! As an American today how am I worse off?
Should we go back to the beginning of our country? Back to the days where life was hard, disease was rampant and we had war on our minds? Was life then better than we have it today? How about during our own Civil War? During the days in which slavery was not only legal, but normal. Was it better then than now? How about the Great Depression, when people were starving, broke and commiting suicide? Those must have been better times? Must have been the 60’s and 70’s when free love was happening! Oh wait, didn’t we have war, major racial tensions and hatred throughout our country? Oh, wait.. the 80’s right? Inlation eating away at everyone’s life and civil liberties being fought against. Ah.. the 90’s. That must be it… but wait, we had 9/11, a dead economy, a President that couldn’t keep his zipper up and the DOT.COM bust. Where am I missing this?
When did we have more prosperity, more opportunity, more liberty and more freedom that we do today in this country?
Sure, we have issues. But dammit, if this guy is going to be our possible leader, shouldn’t he actually like our country? Or are we so conditioned by the media that we are just too stupid to see it?
At this point, I am so tired of hearing all the negative out there that I am dying for someone to step up and be positive. We all are. Maybe that is why Obama has a following. His message of “hope” is somehow supposed to be a positive message. But if the only way you can make “change” the positive message he wants is to make everything around us look like crap, then no thank you.
Let’s address the issues. And let’s address them as more than political headlines and “hey, look at me” moments. Will someone take actual positive steps to get something positive happening? Enough talk, especially negative.
Here is some positive stuff for you…
Charlotte is still solid. Our real estate market is still good. Mortgage rates in Charlotte are still low. Our unemployment, although slowly rising, is still lower than we have traditionally seen! And by God, we are still alive and able to control our destiny!
Enjoy the positive and stop complaining. Take advantage of the opportunity in front of you and stop waiting on everyone else to make it happen for you.
Ok.. sorry for the rant, but I had to get this out!
